Western Truck Exchange Receives An Electric Truck Order From The Port Of Long Beach
“We are thrilled to have helped The Port Of Long Beach obtain an eMV for their fleet,” said Andrew Holtzman,
Sales Manager. “Through hours of consultation and training, The Port Of Long Beach has learned the great
benefits of integrating EVs into their fleet and they are ready to hit the road.”
The Port of Long Beach, also known as the Harbor Department of the City of Long Beach, is a container port in
the United States, which adjoins Port of Los Angeles. Acting as a major gateway for US–Asian trade, the port
occupies 3,200 acres of land with 25 miles of waterfront in the City of Long Beach, California. The Port of Long
Beach is known internationally as an industry leader in advancing cleaner cargo movement. In order to tackle
greenhouse gases and criteria pollutants, the Port of Long Beach has set a goal of all zero-emissions cargo-handling
equipment by 2030 and a zero-emissions drayage truck fleet by 2035. About 17% of the cargo-handling
equipment at the Port is electric powered, the largest such fleet in the United States.
The Port of Long Beach will be using their new eMV as a crane and welding truck to service the numerous sump
pumps around the Port.
“The Port of Long Beach is committed to becoming a zero-emissions seaport,” Long Beach Harbor Commission
President Sharon L. Weissman said. “Step-by-step, we are making progress toward meeting the goals of both
zero-emissions terminal operations by 2030 and zero-emissions trucking by 2035.”
